Assign classes to point cloud instances
Attach classes to a PLY dataset that has only per-object IDs, and use it for semantic and instance segmentation training

PLY files exported by scanners or segmentation tools often carry only an instance ID per object, not what the object is. Attach a class to each instance and such a dataset becomes usable for training. The assignments are stored in the dataset separately; the original files do not change.
- In the Point label reading (포인트 라벨 해석) card of the dataset overview, switch Class source (클래스 출처) to Assign per instance (인스턴스에 할당) ①. Choose the instance ID property ② under Instance (인스턴스), and Add (추가) the names to attach in the class list ③. If there are IDs for points that are not objects, such as the floor, enter them in Background instance IDs (배경 인스턴스 ID) ④. Press Save and revalidate (저장하고 다시 검증).
① Assign per instance ② instance id property ③ class list ④ background instance ids - Press Go assign (할당하러 가기) in the progress section below the card to go to the Files tab. Open a PLY file and the assignment screen appears instead of the preview.
- Click a point in 3D to select its instance. Attach a class with the number keys (
0unassigns), and move to the previous or next instance with[]. You can also choose a class per instance in the list on the right ①. Hover over a list row to highlight just that object in 3D.Assignment view — click a point in the 3D view, ① pick its class in the list, then ② Save assignments - Press Save assignments (할당 저장) ②. Only that file is revalidated. When a file is done, open the next one with Next unassigned file (다음 미할당 파일). Leaving without saving shows a warning.
With many files, assign in bulk by CSV. Get the current assignment table with Export CSV (CSV 내보내기) in the card, fill in the class column, and upload it with Import CSV (CSV 반입).

- Files are matched by
file_id, or byfilenameif it is empty.pointsis for reference only. - An empty
classunassigns the instance. Instances not in the CSV are left as they are. - Before importing, the number of assignments that will change is shown first; nothing is saved until you press Apply (반영).
- If even one row has a problem, nothing is applied and a list of problem rows (row number, reason) is shown. Common causes are a name not in the class list, an instance not in the file, and the same instance given two different classes. Only UTF-8 files up to 5 MB are accepted.
